Ah, yoga… one of my favorite pass times. It’s the best way I know to get out of my head and into my body, relieving the anxious diva who likes to run rampant in my brain. Yoga is my favorite tool for getting me reconnected with my breath, calming down the nervous system. Plus, if just feels so damn good. I think, we should be able to stop-drop-and-yoga anywhere we want, whenever we want.

Problem is, I’ve got this six pound yoga mat that I’ve gotta haul around with me and it doesn’t exactly fit in my back pocket. What good is this amazing tool for calming down my anxiety if I have to wait to practice when I am in a studio or in the perfect setting? Of course, I could do some chair yoga or some basic stretching, but it’s not the same.

yoga anywhere

Who honestly cares about grass stains?

I crave yoga flow. You know, the yoga practices that have you moving along with your breath from pose to pose. They’re active and fluid and maybe a tad bit sweaty. It’s delicious.

But again, I don’t have my mat with me all the time. More likely, I am on a hike or on the beach or somewhere like an airport where the ground is disgusting. Do you make it a habit of rolling around in the mud or flopping yourself onto a public floor? Me neither. (That’s a lie…)

Anyway, my point is that sometimes, you need a serious yoga practice but you don’t have a mat. We’ve all been there.

I have good news for you! There are plenty of yoga poses you can do without a mat!

This yoga below is a standing practice that can be practiced anytime, anywhere. You don’t even need to bring your hands to the ground if you don’t want to. You can get your yoga flow on in the middle of a beautiful park halfway through your morning jog (cheers to you) without having to haul your darn mat with you.

Standing Yoga You Can Do Anywhere

^Don’t let the mat in the video fool you. I was clearly just being a diva about my feet that day.

I want to know, where’s your favorite spot to do yoga? Comment below and let’s build some fun ideas for where to flop ourselves down this week.
